Brilliant cheap dual-SIM phone

I bought this phone in Libya where I'm currently living. I needed a dual-SIM because there are just two providers neither of whom offer a 100% reliable service. The other option was having two phones, which is clumsy. The cost here was a little under £100. As it is, I can receive calls on either network at any time (as they're both active at the same time in receive mode) and make calls on either one by simply swapping SIMs on the pull down menu ... two finger actions.I imagine that most UK users would want a dual-SIM so they can use work number and personal number on the same phone. If that's your requirement, this phone is fine for you.The OS is Android, and for me it's excellent. I use Gmail, Google Calendar etc, and everything synchs perfectly. I can write an email on either this mobile or my laptop and the email appears on both. The same is true of Google Chat. I use an app to synch my To Do list so I can write it up in the evening on my laptop and it synchs within seconds, so it's there with me on my mobile for use the next day. As a productivity tool, I can't fault it. When I'm out and about I can send my location (via GPS) to my Mrs and kids to let them know where I am and what I'm doing. Games play well and all the apps I've downloaded work perfectly.Android is a terrific OS that will do everything you want/need your phone to do.It has all the functions that you need: phone/GPS/Bluetooth/wifi/GPRS/computer connectivity.It works perfectly well both in wifi mode, which I use in my accommodation, and GPRS which I use in the outside world. There are no wifi hotspots here in Libya, so I can't comment on that.The Bluetooth works perfectly and is useful for all sorts of applications where you want to transfer pics or business cards etc between phones or between your computer and phone.The phone is light, easy to hold so feels good in your hand and the call quality is fine.I've never had and don't want a high-end phone, so I can't compare the screen quality. But it's perfectly adequate and is readable in most light conditions.The phone is fairly tough having survived one or two drops onto carpeted floors. I wouldn't want to test it beyond that.I've found the GPS to be especially useful. There is a good map of Tripoli on Google maps and many places of interest are marked. When I'm out and about, I use the GPS to know precisely where I am and how to navigate to where I want to be. So for international travel or holidays, this is an ideal, inexpensive and very user-friendly phone to consider.I make good use of my phone. It's my calendar, address book, alarm clock, countdown timer (via app), note taker, voice recorder and camera. If you want a phone for similar functions, this is an excellent and well-priced one to consider.There is no flash, but the camera works just fine in daylight. It's a 3.2 Mpixel camera, so won't replace your high-end SLR, but is great for on-screen viewing. That's all I ever do, so it's just fine for me. I don't quite understand the review that talks about the low resolution of the camera and it being virtually unusable. In my opinion 3.2 Mpixel is quite adequate and only to be expected on a mobile at this price. You do, of course, have to keep the lens cover clean. Even a fingerprint will degrade the picture quality on any mobile phone camera considerably.Someone talks about the difficulty of reading eBooks on it. It's a phone with a 3" screen! If you really want to read eBooks, a tablet would be better. For reading your emails and browsing for short periods, again, it's fine.If you're not familiar with Android, a very useful feature is the ability to find local places of interest, banks, cafes, bars etc. This feature is in Google maps. Just today in the news is a report about the problems with the new iPhone 5 and its mapping application ... no such problem with this phone.Another fantastic feature of Android is that you can find apps on Google Play from your computer and send them to your mobile from there. They download to your phone and install automaticallyThere is only downside. The battery life is VERY short. I need to charge the phone every single night. There isn't enough energy in the battery to last two full days, and that's frustrating. If you're travelling away from home for even a single day, you must have your charger or a laptop cable to recharge over night.With that one reservation about battery life, it's a terrific phone. And I recommend it, especially to first-time or non-power-users.PS As I said, I bought mine in Libya, and it's a multi-language version. So I can use both English and Arabic which is a big plus for me. My UK-bought Samsung that I brought with me doesn't do Arabic and couldn't be changed. So in the unlikely event that you want to by a new phone to take overseas with you, wait until you get overseas and buy one there!

The primary reason I purchased this phone was to get away from having to carry two phones around with me all the time (work and personal phone). It's perfect for the job, and I'm very pleased with the purchase.Pros:- Dual-SIM functionality works perfectly. You can receive calls and texts on both SIM's at any time. Making a call or a text will only work on the currently active SIM, but swapping SIM's is quick and easy (done via the Android notification bar - only two finger actions required!). You can lable the SIM's so you know which one you are running.- Android O/S is very good. It's running Gingerbread, and given this is a mid-range phone, it runs fast with no issues.- GPS is good - I'm running CoPilot live with no problems. Locks onto signal (using A-GPS) very quickly.- Wi-Fi / Bluetooth functionality is flawless - no issues at all.- Music player is great.Cons:- Screen isn't the best - lower resolution, and very slightly fuzzy when compared to higher-end phones. Perfectly useable though!- Camera isn't fantastic, although it takes decent day-to-day pictures (no flash). It's no HTC One X, but then again this isn't expected given the price!I would highly recommend this phone for anyone wanting to get away from having to carry two phones around with you. You just need to remember this ISN'T a high-end device such as the Galaxy SIII etc, but it's a pleasure to use. If you are heavily into phone usage, such as browsing the web all day etc, then the screen may be an issue for you. But normal day-to-day use will be fine.Highly recommended!!

Better than I expected!

Bought this when my second phone packed up and stopped recharging. A bit cheesed off as i could have saved about £50 if i waited a couple of months. It has got blue tooth so i can use it in the car. I had been using nokia for as long as i can remember and this was my first touch screen so it took some getting used to...The camera is a bit of a let down...no flash and very low resolution so it is practically unusable. Well that is the only let down IMO. In-built memory is low (300mb) but it accepts up to 32GB externally. High resolution viewing on imported video/ pictures. Screen is a bit small so PDF's, ebooks and documents a bit of a nightmare to read, as is surfing the net. And the speaker is not that great. But it is android, and with all the apps out there it is so customizable. And once you get the hang of it, very easy to switch between sims. Decent battery. Glad i waited until this dual sim became available. If not for the camera, i would give this 5 stars!
