Very good at the price, but with a few rough edges

Beware - lots of Samsung Galaxy Note II lookalikes arehelpfully called N9330, their specs are not the same,and are often attached to the wrong product. This reviewis very specifically of the Vphone Star N9330.Despite the curious ambiguity in the description, Idid get 8MP (not 5MP) in the rear-facing camera, andI did get the front-facing camera too, and it is indeedjust 640 x 480 resolution as stated.The magnetic compass is imaginary. Google Skyjust isn't the same without it! This is a commonomission, for some reason: I at least would gladlypay a few pounds extra (all that the sensor actuallycosts) for even a cheap and crude magneticcompass, so complete position and orientationinformation is available.The GPS is slow and easily stopped dead: I'm toldthis is a "feature" of the MTK6577. Using an externalGPS receiver with Bluetooth has mostly worked. Ihaven't yet identified the source of the drop-outs Ihave seen (sometimes very annoyingly frequent).It may well not be down to the phone hardware, butI don't suspect the receiver itself, which is fine withWindows.The Android version is actually 4.1.1, not 4.0.9, butI'm not complaining!The CPU is powerful enough for scrolling to beembarrassingly fast. Yes, it can be slowed down,but if it's much too fast at a mid-range setting, theworking range is obviously out of kilter. AnythingI can imagine trying to do on a small tablet it takesin its stride. A quad-core version might well eatmore battery and more money, and show nouser-significant improvement in performance.The accelerometer works fine, and the pre-digestedversion of its output which triggers screen rotationworks well, but rather oddly the pitch and roll outputwhich some apps expect is missing. In fact, theonly working pitch-and-roll application is the calibrationapplication for the accelerometer! Is there abackward-compatibility driver missing?

Better than expected.

Firstly, this phone looks better in real than it does in the photo (Has exactly the same finish as the Galaxy S3), i was really surprised a just how good it looks. Its feels well built aswell, iv been through a few "chinese" phones & this is by far the best built one. The screen resolution is really good too, also better than i expected, it's a HD screen & very responsive. Camera is really good also, although i haven't tested the flash yet, previous "chinese" phones i've had, have had terrible flash. Overall it's a really good phone & i can't fault it. Will update if any problems occur as i've only had it one day.
