Excellent phone, great customer service

I have now had this phone for just over a week and I am really happy with it. It is fast, responsive, runs all applications I have tried without a hitch and usage is just a pleasure. The screen is brilliant, high-resolution HD one, just as advertised. The phone's AnTuTu benchmark is quite good, at about 5300. I am still testing the battery, but it seems it normally lasts about 1.5-2 days with normal usage (obviously, watching movies, or playing graphics games non-stop or similar activity will drain the battery faster). The camera is quite good, high resolution one (there is no optical zoom, however). I have not yet tried the dual-SIM aspect, but expect it to work fine. The Wi-Fi and 3G work really well and fast. There is full Google Play store access.The phone is the same size and shape as Galaxy SIII, so some accessories for that will work, but all buttons and ports are different from SIII, so e.g. some holders do not fit.All in all, an excellent phone by any measure, even more for the price.

Star B92M - Bad reviews not welcome here!

Let me first begin by stating that I have no affiliation to 'Star', 'HDC', 'Fastcardtech' or any other Chinese wholesalers. I am from the UK, and this review is independent on my own experiences with this handset.Now thats over with, I can begin. I was never reluctant to purchase any Chinese made products be it electronics or anything. I have previously purchased brake discs for my Honda Blackbird from China, so I was confident that Chinese products generally stand up to my scrutineering. And I am pleased to report that I was not dissapointed.Anyone who says bad reviews about build quality or quality control from China or the far east have obviously never purchased any products from this area, and I would even go so far as to say they probably own a Franchise in a big name rival. The quality of everything is great. The box, the delivery, the accessories etc.This phone was not purchased from Amazon, but from [...], however should you need to buy from amazon I can reccomend Dracotek, I have dealt with them before and they are great. Anyway, the phone is built very well indeed, just as good as my previous motorola and samsung smartphones. The screen is huge, and very clear. I dont know much about IPS displays, but you can view this screen from nearly horizontal acute angles. Very impressed there.I would say its a bit of a finger print magnet though, my phone came with a screen protector fitted, albeit not fitted very well. So I tried to refit it, unfirtunatly having a labrador and a German Shepherd made this a futile excersise, hairs under the protector resulted in it going in the bin. This has not been a problem due to the phone being near identical to the Samsung Galaxy S3 in size I bought a leather case from ebay and thats that sorted.The back case is great, lovely gloss finish, slightly metallic in apprearence. Graced with a large 12 mega pixel camera and flash in the upper centre. Ive had a play with the camera and it is good, 12mp good? I dont know. I have heard rumours that its only 8mp with the software bumped up to appear 12mp, this seems realistic and it does not detract from the fact the camera is great. It doesnt have a whole bunch of effects to choose from when shooting, but it is a clear and crisp shot. Helped no end by the HD display in light outside conditions and dark inside conditions, and yes it does have self auto focus.The HD display, it is great. I didnt realise just how much better it was than my old samsung galaxy ace (which my wife now has, which is why I bought this) I think realistically though you could probably save a few quid and buy one of the lesser quality display options in fastcardtech, but I cannot guarantee they use the same hardware inside. The phone is quick to scoot round the OS, never lagging or bogging down thus far. Mine only has the 512mb RAM, I have seen some advertised that boast a 1gb RAM, but apparently they used a different manufacturer and they made the switch to 512 DDR3, I wont pretend to know the difference between manufacturers, needless to say 512mb is plenty enough unless you are a hardcore mobile gamer.Im struggling to say anything else about this phone except that if you like the look of the Galaxy S3 , but cant move your finger across the screen in 0.003 m/s and you dont think a quadcore processor is necessary, AND you dont want to pay £500 for a handset, then I cant reccomend this phne enough!Although.......There are a few niggles which dont bother me enough to put me off. But they might bother you:The GPS signal is notoriously weak, so far I have been unable to get a fix, period. Ive tried downloading GPS boosters, GPS fix's etc, and still nothing. Oh well, just means things like map my run, or sat nav dont work. Google maps does work though.There is a group working on XDA Developers website to make a custom ROM for this handset with a supposed fix for the GPS. If you are confident in flashing ROMs then by all means have a go. Ive done it once on a previous handset, and I can honestly say I dont really know how I did it. All I can say is good luck.When you buy the phone from China, my handset kept recieving wierd notifications in Chinese. I deleted all the Chinese apps and bloatware, but it turns out there is a setting within the Apps setting menu which needs disabling. its called Android.Caivs.Apk or something like that, look out forr the word 'Caivs', disable it and you wont recieve anymore wierd messages. Apparently its possible to remove completely from the handset if you gain root user access, but Im content with the fix I have.Would I reccomend this phone? I think so, for the price the quality you get is phenomenal. But from what Ive heard the Star n9770 is also a great handset. It doesnt have HD display, but 800x480 is as close as damnit, and its 1 inch bigger display. Its also a galaxy note replica. Ive bought one of these for my wife so I will et you know how the two compare when it arrives. Im very happy with my handset. great buy for me! 4 stars in total, would have 5 if it wasnt for the weak GPS.

CAVEAT: You get Chinese spam messages with this phone out of the box + a number of Chinese apps that might add notifications and generally be annoying. The Chinese apps are easily uninstalled. But you will also want to go to "manage apps" and disable com.android.caivs to stop the spam. This is in fact most of the reason I didn't give this phone 5 stars. I was aware of this before buying the phone, and I'm a technical user so it didn't make me hesitate, but if you're not ok with fiddling with stuff like this, this is a drawback and can get very annoying very quickly. If you have problems disabling this, you may need to "root" the phone. Thankfully this is easy with this phone, even for relatively non-technical users: [...] - I'd recommend rooting the phone regardless as it allows you to do more complete backups and a few other things.---EDIT: After using the phone for a while longer after the initial review, I have a couple of other minor issues: The micro-USB charger cables I have from my HTC take only the slightest nudge to come loose from this phone. Note that I will not subtract for this because I don't know if this is a problem with this phone, the HTC phone/charger cables or both - I did get extra HTC branded cables because I have had bad experience with other cables with my old HTC Desire, so this might very well be HTC's fault. Just something to keep in mind: If you have problems with charging using existing cables, check that the cable fits snugly enough... Also note that getting initial GPS fix took ages. I've seen other recommending leaving it out for a while (not really an option with our current weather), so maybe that'd be quicker. This isn't a big deal for me as the places I use it are mainly places where I'd get reasonable reliable cell and wifi based location fixes, but it's worth keeping in mind if you'll depend on the GPS.---I received this phone firmly at the beginning of the delivery window. Your mileage may wary, but I was impressed at how quickly I got it even during the holiday period, when another order I got dispatched from a UK seller too longer... I also had an issue with my credit card (had to cancel it due to an unauthorised charge) and contacted the seller to ensure there'd be no problems with my order.Their response was fast and helpful. I opted to order here because the price difference vs. ordering directly from Chinese distributors was so small that the extra comfort of dealing with Amazon was definitively worth it.I only have a few days experience with this phone so far, but so far so good. The phone superficially looks like the Samsung Galaxy S III (apart from being available in black...). In fact, the default background is the moving dandelions that you'll see on the SIII. I've not actually used an SIII so I won't try to compare performance or build quality.My old phone was a HTC Desire HD - a bit aging by now, but a good starting point for a comparison. AnTuTu benchmarks give this phone about twice the score of the HTC Desire HD. It is substantially faster at everything except graphics, where this phone is decidedly not the fastest around (good enough for me, but if you're buying the phone to play 3D games etc., you might want to look around for someone who has tested it, or ensure the games you care about run fine on an older phone like the Desire HD).Compared to the Desire HD and many higher end phones, internal storage is annoyingly small, with very little set aside for apps - the internal flash is partitioned so you have less than 1GB available. Thankfully you can move most stuff to SD card so this shouldn't be a big deal. I put my 32GB SD card into it and have no problems with that.The screen is a fantastic step up from the 800x480 screen on the Desire HD. MUCH clearer. Very nice and bright. I read comics via Comixology on my phones and tablets, and 800x480 is too low for anything to be readable at all zoomed out, whether on my Desire HD or my 7" tablet; the higher resolution on this phone makes enough difference that I *could* read things zoomed out (though the screen size means I still probably won't very often). The one downer is that color saturation is lower, and it can look a bit washed out.Performance appears good. This is no match for phones like the SIII speed wise, given that it's "only" a dual core phone, but for me it was a big step up in performance compared to the Desire HD.The speakerphone function appears to be louder than my Desire HD which was on the low end.Build quality is overall good - it doesn't "feel cheap". The back cover is a bit thin plastic. It feels and looks good, but also seems like it's the piece of the phone that's most likely to break.The phone is quite light - substantially lighter than the Desire HD I'm comparing with, and so despite the larger screen it feels good in the hand.The phone supports two sims. Take care to put the SIM you want to use for data in the slot marked "W" as the other slot only appears to support GPRS up to 34kbps. With EE I get ~2Mbps on 3G in the locations I care most about with the SIM in the right slot. I have only tested it with one sim. There are various enhancements in place to ensure texts etc. are labelled by which SIM it came from, and to let you choose which SIM is active for making calls etc.. If you need to have a business and personal SIM and would prefer not to carry two phones, this seems like it'd be perfect.
