HTC Radar
By Zoe
I have had my HTC Radar for about 6 months (brought at the beginning of December) and I love it. The phone is fast, responsive, easy to use and customize able without being messy (unlike Android).Advantages -- The phone is very "snappy", loads pages and apps quickly and without lag.- The phone has a decent wifi and 3G range which is brill for me as I used the internet all the time on my phone.- The camera is fantastic, it's 5MP with flash and auto focus and it works amazing for taking photos and videos in 720p.- The home screen shows 'tiles' which you can change the colour of and change the background colour to suit your personality.- The phone body is made from metal (except for the plastic parts at the top and bottom) so it feels more solid and doesn't crack or scratch like other phones.- Social networking couldn't be easier, you can type out a text message, send it to anyone on your contact list, to Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Emails all at the same time. Also, photos can be taken and uploaded directly to social networks.Disadvantages -- Windows phones don't offer a range of apps like Android, iPhones or Blackberry, a much smaller range is on the HTC Radar.- When you try and take a close up photo of an object, the camera has difficulties focusing and shows a blurry image.- The metal casing looks brill but it does "chip"(?) or mark easily and leaves hideous dents.- Most of the cases look pretty rubbish on the HTC Radar.- There is no removable battery so you can't carry spare batteries.- The 'tiles' on the home screen like to change and chop all the time which consumes a lot of battery (only being 1500mAh).- The storage is only 8GB (of which only about 6.5GB) is available and is fixed so you can't expand with memory cards and is soon used up.I couldn't update my HTC Radar to Windows 7.8 so I had to force update it which I wouldn't recommend unless you know what you're doing as it can brick your phone and the insurance doesn't cover it.Overall, I would recommend this phone for anyone looking for a user-friendly phone that is customize able but still "neat". This phone is incredibly cheap for what it is, I paid £110 from Phones4U and it was £250 off so I got a real bargain there and I'm glad I took it!

I got this as a prezzy for my wife's birthday. She is a bit fazed by smartphones so I got this as its windows 7.5 the same op system as her laptop and she loves it,It's a solid nice weight in your hand, and is fast and a doddle to use.i myself was surprised how good it is against my Samsung galaxy 9000iGT,it's a great phone at a good price!

HTC Radar - White
By Alex
Well, after 3-4 years of continuous use of a nokia E-66 I thought it was time to upgrade to sth more "connected" to the net.I chose to go for a windows phone, mainly because of the platforms lay out and clean lines - also because of MS office compatibility.I chose HTC Radar for the specs and the price found on Amazon (significant less than street price). I have been now using the phone for 2 months. The major issue I had to face was to input my contacts from nokia e-66 to my new phone. After trying various tricks (and a few visits to local stores) I managed to overcome the problem "simply" by downloading my contacts to pc, then unifying them to a single archive, uploaded it to Google contacts and the import it to my new phone. This procedure is one of the few drawbacks that I have found regarding the phone.Other than that, the reception is good, wi-fi and 3G is strong & fast, the screen is clear and bright and the internal memory space (although not expandable, around 6gb free to use) is sufficient for my needs. The phone feels solid and gives the impression that it is pretty well made.Included set of headphones only lasted for a week and the sound was pretty low, regardless of the changes in sound menu. You can choose to place shortcuts for the apps/contacts mostly used in the initial screen, so as not to enter to menus/submenus to find them-there are also some useful apps in marketplace worth downloading. The latter is also sufficient in terms of variety of apps (again, for my needs).I would also like to point out that the phone came preloaded with a full gps navigator. Unfortunately, driving guidance is free only for a month, after which you have to buy a licence...even after trial period, you can still download maps an use them to locate your position or find an certain place.Battery is ok, I guess....at the end of the day there is about 15-20% left, after a mixed use of internet 3G/wifi, 30-40 minutes of talking, couple of sms texts and a little of radio listening. I also have the feeling that the phone is always communicating with my provider, even when it is idle - I realized that because it regularly interferes with a radio on standby mode -does anyone has an advise on that?In general, I'm happy with my choice.
